Today I decided to release part one of my Digital Art Process tutorial. Remember that this tutorial will feature three parts, I’m thinking about releasing tutorials a new part every couple of days or so. But yes for now part one is now up and one website. Feel free to let me know what you think, and how you feel about it.
Okay, so I officially changed the name of the tutorial from being “Wham Nut Mo Mo Monster Tutorial ” to “The Digital Art Process tutorial”. that just so happens to feature Samnut. This tutorial is basically finished, as it will be a tutorial that will cover the entire digital art creation process. Starting from building up a sketch, creating the lineart, and finally coloring it. The entire tutorial is actually three individual tutorials that all link side by side. More details will be posted later, so stay tuned.
I’ve converted both of those tutorials so that they are just xhtml and images, as opposed to being flash tutorials. The process was smooth, I even combined some older pointless steps into quicker, (do it three things at once) steps. you can checkout both tutorials in the tutorials section.
I’m trying to make a decent effort to update the majority of the colormagix tutorials. I got through the bulbasaur tutorial pretty quickly, it’s just that I need stay constant. When looking at the bulbasaur tutorial compared to some of the other ones, it had a lot of steps. That being said I’m positive I can get through some others within a few days. Right this second I’m working on the How to draw a turtle tutorial, the Pixel Pumpkin tutorial, and the Spriting on the Breeze Template tutorial.
Hey, Shhh…
Don’t tell anyone I told you… but I’m currently working on the Wham Nut Mo Mo Monster Tutorial (Name Subject to change). I’m not going to spoil the whole tutorial, or let you see to much, but below is basically Wham Nut in three stages. I’m sure you guys are going like this tutorial.

I actually shocked myself by getting it done so fast, but yea the how to draw bulbasaur tutorial has been completely converted from it’s all flash driven version, to just images and html. It works out a lot better that way. The content has been slightly modified as well. I’ve also resized the images, I’m sure people didn’t want to look at 500×500 pixeled version of the bulabasaur steps. (I had to rip the images from the original flash file). Which is another reason as to why I have to update all thes tutorials, the .fla files from the original website are gone, and they are never coming back. So it’s basically convert, or leave them that way. They need to be updated, so I’ve chosen the route of updating each and every tutorial individually :D. Yay Anthony!… Regardless, the bulbasaur tutorial is finished, and there are many more to go so I might as well get back to work.

For the past half a year now my main focus has been converting the original flash powered templates to more Search Engine Friendly. I will keep you all posted. I will be converting the others in due time.

As I promised I’m making more of an effort to update colormagix. I have a surprise I’m actually working on new tutorials!!! These are inspired from my original Mo Mo Monster game concepts. I’m not going to go into too much detail about the idea, but the three in rough sketch form are bellow. Each monster is going to be featured in their own tutorial. I’d love to go into more detail but you are going to have to wait and see. Until then keep checking the website, as I will be posting more as time goes on.

Remember how I said a few months back that I was going to bring life back into the blog? Well yea… about that… I’ve been busy. I’ve had a lot of things under my belt. But now I can seriously get back to doing what I enjoy doing, and that’s working on colormagix. If you read some other post you might be aware of the changes that have taken place as of late, (the website news is now apart of the blog). This sort of forces me to come to blog and edit everything from time to time. So expect more posting from me, and please comment, as I’m interested in hearing what you all have to say.
As sort of a late birthday present to colormagix, I just wanted to take some time to reflect on the evolution of the colormagix logo and how it has changed over the course of two years. I still find it a bit humorous that I created colormagix over two years ago :D. As you can see, and experienced if you’ve been a visitor throughout this time period, colormagix has had quite a few logo design changes.
This is probably one of the first logos that colormagix ever had, the original colormagix consisted of nothing more that gray text saying “colormagix”. Unfortunately the original colormagix files were lost in a hard drive failure. The good thing about that situation was that it forced me to add some color, to the colormagix logo.

The logo you see above was one of the earlier renditions that had the classic blue and red clashing color schemes. This was also the first logo to feature the colormagix star.
That logo was a bit over the top in terms of neatness, it looked almost two “typographical, if that is a word. It probably isn’t but who cares :D. Anyway, so the new concept used a rounder font, included some thick shadows, and the star was removed.

The updated logo left a lot to be desired, so once again the logo was modified. This new logo took the best of the previous logo’s (minus the underline), and created something that was acceptable, yet appealing. (The original version was much larger).

Once again it came time to improve the logo, the previous logo had a decent look to it, but it seemed a bit washed, the previous logo also forced an entire website redesign. That being the case a long with the newest logo came a website color, and layout change. The current colormagix logo combines all the strengths of the previous logo, but adds a little more oomph, if you will.

It’s kind of funny as I sit here typing this I look back at colormagix, and all the updates this website has gone through, all the changes, all the adjustments, and I can’t help but feel proud. Colormagix may have been my first website, but it really is one of the best.
