Drawing Naruto Uzamaki

November 25th, 2007

Any fan of Naruto should at least know how to draw the main character well. It is actually not that difficult if you are willing to take the time to do a few practice sketches and perfect your technique. My tutorial shows the entire process from start to finish. The little slide show will take you carefully through each step. It covers how to draw in the little details of his face, hair, and headband. The little wrap-up even points out how to get all the signature details of his jacket to really pull off the look. People who want to make it perfect can then take the follow-up course on how to color Naruto properly and make a little anime masterpiece.

Hair Spriting Tutorial for Breeze

November 20th, 2007

Spriting the Hair of a Breeze sprite can sometimes be challenging. Luckily, Green Raven has posted a little tutorial to show the basics of it. The tutorial is found in a thread in RMXPUniverse, and requires you to register. Once you register, you can view the thread here.

We plan on actually being able to access the tutorial and flash power it so that it is easier to use. As you already know colormagix was one of the first places to use the breeze template as well as implement a breeze tutorial. With the success of the first flash powered breeze template tutorial, there is no doubt that we will be able to do the same for the second. We are just waiting for permission to do so.

Creating a User Bar in Photoshop

November 18th, 2007

User bars are all the rage now-a-days. Everyone wants one to put in their forums signatures for just about everything, yet, not many people know how to make them. Using this tutorial, you will be able to make your very own user bar in Photoshop. I will be using Photoshop CS3, but this tutorial can be applied to any version, plus, you can use the basic ideas to use it in almost any graphics program, like The GIMP.

First you need to create a new image using the settings in the image below.

Step 1

Next, you need to add a gradient using whatever two colors you want. Since I’m creating a ColorMagix user bar, I’ll use the red and blue colors from the web site layout. The red is RGB (244,83,83) and the blue is RGB(173,200,255). I did a diagonal slash when applying the gradient, and got this.

Step 2

Now, we have to create the diagonal lines for the user bar. For that, we need to create a new 6 x 6 document with a transparent background. Using the pencil tool with a black color, we need to draw a diagonal line like so.

After you draw it, go to Edit -> Define Pattern, and set a pattern name. Now, go back to the user bar and the Pattern Stamp Tool to put the lines into your picture. You should set the opacity pretty low for the lines, I use 33%, but its up to you. After applying the lines, you should get something that looks like this.

Next, we need to add the image. The image needs to have a transparent background, so it doesn’t cover up any of our lines. I’m using the star logo from the website. After resizing it many times, I finally got this.

Now for the final touch, the text. The effects of the text vary from user bar to user bar, but most user bars utilize the Visitor -BRK- font in a 10pt font. The effects I chose to use here are Drop Shadow, and Outer Glow, coupled with the black text, I think it looks pretty sharp. Here’s the final product, feel free to use it in your sigs, just please don’t hotlink it, since it will use up all our bandwidth.
