What exactly is pixel art?

Well for that to be answered it requires a little knowledge into the history of digital art. What many people may think pixel art is, it may not be. First of all Pixel art is a type of digital art that was frequently used in the making of computer and mobile phone games. It was first used in 1972, mentioned in publication ten years later and has grown from there.

The are some key aspects that make pixel art… well pixel art. Techniques of line art are used initially before dithering colors. Dithering can and will be explained in more detail here. The coloring of the pixel art is done before using anti-aliasing.

Pixel art is generally divided into two major categories, isometric and non-isometric. Isometric sprites are those that are at a certain angle, and non isometric are traditionally in standard view. Today pixel art is used in many ways. Pixel art has been used a lot in video games, including some Nintendo DS games. Eboy is well known artist that is famous for his use of pixel art.
