Pixel Art Pumpkin Tutorial

Introduction

Are you the kind of person who wants to learn how to create pixel art? This tutorial is a great place to begin learning about pixels, and how they are used to create simple images. When it comes to creating art for video games spriting is something that is a must. The images in video games are called sprites, they are a type of pixel art. Please note that you can follow the tutorials in any program including Adobe Photoshop, Ms Paint, Gimp or any other raster image software

Step One

Today we are going to learn how to create some pixel art. Specifically we are going to learn how to create a pumkin. For this tutorial I used the Dark Green and Darke Orange Color palletes.

If you don't want to use these color palletes, you can browse our Color library to choose your own.

Step two:

Use the sixth color of the Dark Orange color palette to create the basic 1 pixel outline oval shape of the pumpkin. Note there isa normal sized version and a zoomed version for a much better visual.

Step Three:

Use the sixth color of the Dark Green Color Palette to create the outlinme of the stem. AS you can see it's really basic and won't take more than a few seconds.

Step Four:

Use the 5th color of the Dark Orange Color paltyte to add in the detail lines to the base of the punklin. These lines no only give detail but they provide the illusion of havinga nice plump pumkin.

Step Five:

In this step we will take the time to add in the base color of pumpkin which will be done with the third color of the pallete .It isimportant to fill in all the areas as shown below.

Step Six:

We just added the base color of the pumkin, now lets to the same with the stem/stalk. Choose the third color of the Dark Green Paltte.

Step Seven:

Everything neds shading so take the fourth color of the the dark orange color pallete and ad in shadows to the left side of the pumpkin.
